David Austin is a Singapore-based media strategist, writer, and content creator. He began his career in Dallas, Texas, where he worked in the traditional mass media of radio, television and film. There, he worked with a variety of regional, national, and international concerns, ranging from the iconic American franchise of Chuck Norris’ “Walker, Texas Ranger” to the North American headquarters of India’s ZEE TV satellite network.
Relocating to Singapore in 2006, David worked with major international broadcasters including CNBC and the BBC, where he developed a strong foundation in storytelling, broadcast communication, and high-pressure content production. He later brought those skills into the public policy space during his time with the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), where he led strategic communications efforts, strengthened the institute’s digital presence, and produced content that increased engagement and expanded its public reach. He also writes for LKYSPP’S digital platform, “Global-is- Asian”, translating academic research and policy insights into clear, accessible content.
David serves as director of communications and strategic engagement for the non- profit Centre for Strategic Energy and Resources and is the creator and co-host of Green Shift, a podcast uncovering Asia’s real sustainability transition.
He is also the founder of Austin Media, a boutique communications agency focused on helping purpose-driven organisations tell sharper, more compelling stories. Through Austin Media, he helps founders, researchers, and organisations communicate with impact—turning complexity into stories that move people.
